Getting to know King’s HS Teacher Marian Morris
In the High School President’s coffee meeting this week, a King’s parent commended Marketing and Business Teacher Marian Morris’s “ability to produce excellence in all of her students.” Several parents around the table agreed.
Mrs. Morris teaches intro to and advanced marketing, business and Mock Trial classes and leads competitive DECA and Mock Trial teams. When asked her greatest passion as a teacher, she replied, “My greatest passion is to see students exceed their own expectations of what they are capable of and achieve success that surprises them both during their time at King’s and in the future. I see so much potential and such great capabilities. When a student sees it in themselves, I feel very successful!”
Awards, trophies and photographs cover the walls in Mrs. Morris’s classroom. This year’s DECA team achieved Gold Level Certification and 29 students qualified to compete in state competitions on March 3rd – 5th at the State Career Development Conference (SCDC) in Bellevue. Winners will attend the International Career Development Conference. King’s Mock Trial Varsity Team just won regionals and will be going on to state for the 6th year in a row on March 18th – 20th in Olympia. Theirs is the most recent trophy to decorate the class. Read story here.
Mrs. Morris is in her 8th year of teaching at King’s, but she has been part of the King’s community since 1994, when her oldest daughter began Kindergarten here. She has had 3 daughters graduate from King’s and currently has a daughter in the 7th grade.
What does she love about working at King’s? “I love the confidence and entrepreneurial spirit of Bob (Ruhlman) and Eric (Rasmussen) who allow me to try and implement real-world projects with the students, like the trade show, the Reality Fair, the International Economic Summit and more!”
