King’s Preschool will create room and spacing in the classroom learning environment that allows for social distancing of children to the best of teachers and students ability. We will carefully monitor the health of our students, teachers, and staff during our preschool hours.

Per the DOH recommendation of group sizes, King’s Preschool will operate with a 10 to 1 student to teacher ratio for students age 2 ½ – 5 years with a maximum capacity of 20 students. For classrooms with students younger than 2 ½, the student to teacher ratio will be 7:1 with a maximum capacity of 14 students.

Every parent, child, teacher, and staff entering King’s Preschool premises must complete a health screening upon arrival. For the safety of our community, please inform us if you are experiencing any symptoms at any time throughout the day, even if you were approved in the morning health screening.

Temperature checks, as well as the following health screen questions, will be completed for all people entering the preschool campus and building:

  • A fever of 100.4°F or higher or a sense of having a fever
  • A cough that you cannot connect to another health problem
  • Shortness of breath that you cannot connect to another
    health problem
  • A sore throat that you cannot connect to another health problem
  • Muscle aches that you cannot connect to another health problem or to another activity such as physical exercise
  • Has anyone in your household experienced the above signs and symptoms within the past 72 hours?
  • Has your child and anyone else in your family been close with anyone suspected or confirmed with COVID-19?
  • Has your child or anyone else in your family had any medication to reduce a fever in the last 24 hours?

If at any time during the day a child appears with any symptoms, he/she will be checked for a temperature as well as other symptoms. If there are two or more symptoms, the child will be placed in care in a separate room and the parent/guardian will be called to pick up the child immediately. If a child has a temperature of 100.4 or greater, they will not be allowed to attend school until the fever has been gone, without the assistance of fever reducing medication, for 72 hours.

Note: Please understand that this may require all siblings to stay home as well.

King’s Preschool will log all child and teacher/staff illness identified during our preschool hours. This log of student illness is reviewed by the state of Washington Department of Children, Youth, and Families licensor. If a child becomes ill with symptoms of COVID-19, King’s Preschool is required to notify the child’s family and the child cannot return until all symptoms are gone for at least 72 hours, COVID-19 testing is confirmed negative with written documentation, or a child is given permission to return to school with a doctor’s release.

To help us all stay healthy we are implementing frequent handwashing methods. We are asking all our families, children, teachers and staff to follow the recommendations of the Department of Health and Washington State Licensing by washing your hands with soap and water at every transition and activity.

Lunch

At this time, food will be provided by King’s Preschool and King’s Schools. King’s Preschool will provide 2 snacks and King’s Schools/Chartwells will provide one lunch for children enrolled in the Full Day Program.

Parents of Half Day PreK students will need to send in an individual snack and lunch with water from home each day.

Water

All drinking fountains will be turned off. For the health of every child, we ask that you provide your child with a clean and full water bottle every day. Please bring a water bottle with your child’s name on it in the morning and leave it in your child’s cubby to use during the day. At the end of the day the water bottle must go home to be cleaned and sanitized for use the next day. Please understand currently that the water bottles are a requirement for the health and safety of the children.

Outdoor Play

Children and teachers will be going outside as much as possible and have two scheduled recesses each day. Children will not be asked to wear masks during outdoor play and will be reminded to social distance and handwash throughout play. Each Full Day Preschool class will have two recess sessions for 45 minutes. Half Day Prekindergarten will have one recess session for 30 minutes.
