Summer Camp

At King’s Schools, the fun doesn’t have to end when school ends. Join us this summer for a variety of summer camps for K-8 students. Fun, creativity, and imagination are just around the corner!

King’s Kids Club is open during the summer as a day camp called SummerBreak Day Camp. King’s SummerBreak provides top-quality daily care featuring theme weeks, KIDS Praise, educational activities, and learning trips to the beach, parks, museums, and Seattle Center.

King’s Kids Club is a School-Age Care Facility and employs highly qualified staff who love being with children. Our goal is to continue your child’s educational experience in a safe, warm, fun, and creative environment.

Summer Sports Camps

Grades Entering: K-8th grade (Coed)

Campers will develop basic football fundamentals including running, receiving, throwing, blocking, and tackling (using soft pads-no football gear required.) Fun team games will be incorporated to give athletes the chance to test their skills.

Girls new to volleyball and those who have several years’ experience will develop fundamentals of serving, passing, setting and hitting. Athletes can expect to improve these skills through the use of competitive team drills. In addition, every athlete will learn offensive and defensive concepts.

The camp is dedicated to instructing girls in the fundamentals of basketball and to help them grow in the areas of teamwork, sportsmanship and character. Girls will learn fundamental skills to be competitive in the game of basketball through competitive drills and techniques that they can take with them to continue to develop as an athlete and person. Our faith-based camp will encourage each girl to not only “shine” on the court, but also challenge them to “shine” in their communities.

A maker space is created with options for creating. Each day campers will solve real world problems. They will use the engineering process to build solutions to these problems. Tinkering skills will be stretched as campers find ways to help! The day will end with photographic representations of the process to document their journey.

Baker’s Dozen! With a bakery theme students will engage in hands-on activities that promote a deeper understanding of multiplication and division concepts. Campers will practice math facts with games and show their progress with fun ways to overcome the timed math fact quiz. Campers will practice long division and multi-step story problems as they fill imaginary bakery orders. This experience will make learning multiplication and division much sweeter. We will use bar graph models as a strategy to help solve these problems. Disposable materials will be provided.

The Shopping Network! Campers explore addition and subtraction concepts by creating a homemade store. They will write receipts and stock shelves in a dramatic play environment. This play to learn approach will help students understand the reasons why math is so important and act out story problems as they read them. A Piece of the Pie! Fractions, percents, decimals and ratios…. Oh my! Campers will have hands-on experiences that will help students understand more complex math concepts. Campers will add, subtract, multiply and divide parts of a whole in various formats. Bar graph models will be used to solve some of these type of problems. Disposable materials will be provided.

Cursive hand writers will review letters while working on the tricky connections. Students will be practice cursive by writing scripture verses in a fun way. This course includes a workbook that campers can use after camp for extra practice.

Campers will learn about the engineering process and then use maker space supplies to build huge forts. They will learn to how re-enforce them by experimenting with strong shapes. The final hour will arrive all too quickly when the campers truly discover how well their forts hold up when they have an indoor snowball fight with paper!

I Spy…Campers will do a novel study in the A-Z service called “Detective Camp”. They will get to do spy activities such as dusting for fingerprints, creating codes, and solving puzzles as they practice stronger literacy skills. “Lego Master’s Build”-Have you seen the show? This is a King’s version of that infamous competition. Campers will have timed builds that will have to endure scientific tests. Teams will be multi-aged and encouraged to add points by using everyone’s ideas in the build. The team that creates a story with their build gets even more points but of course the competition might just be too close to call in our version. Some builds will be meant to be smashed.

Final projects include group poster, carved Lino-block & mounted prints. Led by King’s Art Teacher, Mrs. Beeman, who minored in Studio Art in college, with Printmaking emphasis.
