Baker’s Dozen! With a bakery theme students will engage in hands-on activities that promote a deeper understanding of multiplication and division concepts. Campers will practice math facts with games and show their progress with fun ways to overcome the timed math fact quiz. Campers will practice long division and multi-step story problems as they fill imaginary bakery orders. This experience will make learning multiplication and division much sweeter. We will use bar graph models as a strategy to help solve these problems. Disposable materials will be provided.

The Shopping Network! Campers explore addition and subtraction concepts by creating a homemade store. They will write receipts and stock shelves in a dramatic play environment. This play to learn approach will help students understand the reasons why math is so important and act out story problems as they read them. We will see how bar graph models can help solve story problems as well. Disposable materials included.

A Piece of the Pie! Fractions, percents, decimals and ratios…. Oh my! Campers will have hands-on experiences that will help students understand more complex math concepts. Campers will add, subtract, multiply and divide parts of a whole in various formats. Bar graph models will be used to solve some of these type of problems. Disposable materials will be provided.
