Coach Jim Shapiro
High School Head Football Coach
Coach Shapiro has coached at King’s since 1994. Under Shapiro the team has appeared in the state quarter-finals 7 times, WIAA Academic State Champions four times and competed for the first time in the school’s history in the 2A classification playoffs in 2005. Coach Shap has been voted Coach of the Year by the league in 1999, 2002, 2008, and 2013. He coached in the East/West All Star “West Team” in 2002. In 2013 and 2015 he was named NFL Seahawk Coach of the Week, National Football Foundation Coach of the Year as well as Washington State Coach of the Year which represents all coaches at all classification.
Shapiro is a 1993 graduate of Pacific Lutheran University. He was an active member of the 1993 PLU National Championship football team and is a member of the PLU Hall of Fame.
Shapiro has been married for 20 years to his wife Wendy. They live in Edmonds and have three kids Atley, Gracia, and Kai.
