As we enter Christmas break at King’s Schools in Shoreline, near Seattle, Washington, we invite our community to pause, reflect, and give thanks for the blessings that have filled this past year. Christmas break offers students, families, and staff a valuable opportunity to step back from daily routines, consider God’s faithfulness, and prepare our hearts for the year ahead with renewed purpose and faith.
The past year has been rich with moments of growth, learning, and building resilient disciples of Jesus. Each class, chapel, and activity has allowed students to grow in knowledge, character, and faith. As a school community, we have seen God’s provision in countless ways—from the support of our dedicated faculty to the strength of families who encourage and uplift each other.
During this Christmas break, reflect on how God has been present in your life over the past year. Encourage each family member to share a specific blessing, whether a friendship, an answered prayer, or a personal accomplishment. This practice brings gratitude to the forefront and reminds us that God walks alongside us in all seasons.
Gratitude is a robust foundation for faith. Recognizing God’s gifts in our lives strengthens our relationship with Him and shifts our focus from what we lack to the abundance we have received. Gratitude gives us a content heart. Families can foster gratitude by journaling blessings or sharing a “thankfulness moment” around the dinner table each night during Christmas break. These small habits are simple yet profound ways to keep our eyes on God’s goodness and faithfulness over our lives, especially in a world that can often feel hurried or uncertain.
Reflecting on blessings doesn’t mean ignoring challenges; it’s about finding God’s hand at work, even in difficult times. In the Bible, many stories show us how God provides and delivers through hardship, not in seasons of blessing. For students, this might mean acknowledging how God has helped them through a challenging academic project, while parents might reflect on God’s provision in times of uncertainty. As we take these moments of gratitude, we remember that God’s faithfulness never fades.
As we close the chapter on 2024 and look forward to 2025, we do so with hope and faith in God’s plan for the future. The new year brings fresh opportunities for students to grow their knowledge and deepen their walk with Christ. Christmas break is an ideal time for families to set meaningful goals aligning with Christian values—whether committing to more family devotional time, fostering deeper friendships, or participating in community service.
Students can also set individual goals for their spiritual growth. Whether praying daily, reading a specific book of the Bible, or joining a youth group, the start of the year offers a moment to renew commitments and ask God to guide their steps.
At King’s Schools, we are immensely grateful for the community that God has built here. As we prepare for the new year, we look forward to how students and families will continue to grow in faith and service. May this Christmas break bring you rest, renewal, and an even deeper awareness of God’s many blessings.
We wish each family a merry and blessed Christmas break and a hopeful, faith-filled new year. To learn more about King’s Schools, contact us today!
